Bleed, crop marks and tiling

Bleed and safe area

  1. Set Bleed in the bottom bar — the amount of artwork that extends past the trim line.
  2. Set Safe area — the margin inside the trim that text must stay within.
  3. Tick Crop marks so the trim position is printed.

Signs bigger than your printer

  1. Tick Tile to media.
  2. Open Tile setup and set the overlap between tiles.
  3. Use Design preview to check where the joins will fall, and move them off anything important.
  4. Print, then assemble using the overlap.

Worth knowing. Check where the joins land before printing. A join through the middle of a logo is obvious; a join in a plain area is not.

Exporting instead of printing

Use Export for a production PDF, a high-resolution raster file, or supported vector output when the job is going to another machine or another supplier.
