Who controls your data

Paramount Plates Ltd is the controller of the personal data described in this notice. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 16366988, at 42 Moorside, Spennymoor, DL16 7EA, United Kingdom.

For anything about your data, email hello@platesoftware.co.uk. We are small enough that a data protection officer is not required, and that email reaches the person who decides.

The short version

We collect what we need to sell you a licence, send you your key and support you. We do not collect your customers' details, your identity documents, or your plate artwork.

The desktop application does not send us anything. It has no network connection for licensing and never contacts us.

What we collect, and why we are allowed to

When you buy, we collect your business name, contact name, email address, phone number, business address, and where you give them, your company number and supplier registration number. We use these to form and perform the contract with you — that is our lawful basis for all of it.

When you use a contact or partner enquiry form, we collect your name, email, and anything you write. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us about the product.

If you opt in to product updates, we send them on the basis of your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the link in every message.

We keep a record of licence keys issued and the orders they belong to. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in being able to prove what we sold, support it, and answer a dispute.

Payment details

Card details are handled entirely by Stripe. They are never sent to this website and we never see or store them.

We receive from Stripe only what we need to identify the order: the amount, the outcome, and the billing details you gave.

What the desktop application collects

Nothing reaches us. The application makes no network calls for licensing and has no telemetry or analytics.

It stores on your own computer: your licence key, a device code derived from your Windows installation, your projects, templates, printer profiles, calibration values and print history. All of it stays there. If you uninstall the application, it goes with it.

Cookies and browser storage

This website sets no advertising cookies, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

Your browser stores your basket so it survives a page reload. That is storage you asked for by using the basket, and it is not shared with anyone.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages, which are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

Verification of supplier registration

Where you tell us you produce road plates, we may ask you for evidence of your supplier registration, or check the number you give us with the DVLA. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in not selling road-plate production software to a business that is not registered to make road plates.

No law requires us to check, and no law requires you to hold a registration before buying software. We check because we would rather know the order is what it appears to be.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers, and only for the purpose named:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
• Resend — sending your licence key and service emails.
• Cloudflare — hosting this website.
• Google Workspace — our own email, where your messages to us arrive.

Where your data goes

Some of those providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by the UK's international data transfer agreement or addendum, or by the provider's certification under the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

How long we keep it

Order and licence records: seven years from the end of the subscription, which is the period we are required to keep business records for.

A copy of each licence key email, in our own mailbox: seven years, for the same reason and so we can tell you what key you were sent.

Enquiries that do not become orders: two years from your last contact with us.

Marketing consent and the record of it: until you withdraw it, and two years after that so we can show you were removed.

Anything else: for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, and then deleted.

Keeping it safe

Access is limited to the one person who runs the business. Accounts holding customer data are protected by two-factor authentication. Data in transit is encrypted, and our providers encrypt it at rest.

If a breach happens that is likely to risk your rights, we will tell the Information Commissioner within 72 hours and tell you without undue delay.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and ask for your data in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time.

Email hello@platesoftware.co.uk and we will answer within one month.

Giving us your business details is necessary to enter into the contract. If you do not provide them we cannot sell you a licence. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling.

Complaining to the regulator

You have the right to complain to us first, under section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018. Email hello@platesoftware.co.uk and we will respond.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
