The two things you own
A Business Licence is the subscription belonging to your business. It sets your tier: Core, or Essential.
A Production Licence is permission for one computer to create final printable output. It belongs to the business rather than a named employee, so several staff can use the same activated computer.
Every subscription includes one Production Licence. Additional ones cost the same whichever tier you are on.
Activating a computer
- Install Plate Software on the computer.
- Open Licence and enter your business licence key and the email it was issued to.
- If a Production Licence is spare, the computer activates immediately.
- If none is spare, you will be offered the option to add one.
Moving to another computer
Paste your key into the new computer and stop using the old one. There is no transfer step and no limit, because nothing is recorded anywhere — but the number of computers you produce on should match the Production Licences you have paid for.
Ordinary component upgrades should not consume a transfer. If hardware has genuinely failed, contact support and we will sort it out rather than making you burn one.
Working offline
Plate Software works entirely offline. There is no activation server and no periodic check, so no internet connection is needed to design, print or export.
During a temporary outage you carry on as normal. If the entitlement and its grace period both expire, new production output stops, but your local files remain openable and editable.
